To assist in sports massage therapy, I have incorporated hot stone therapy which is a technique that compliments my practice. Hot stone massage started back over 3000 years ago in ancient India and China and as a therapist today it allows me to work more efficiently for longer periods of time, eliminating hyeprflexion and hypertension of my wrists.
The benefits include increased local circulation, improved blood flow to surrounding tissues and greater ability to transport toxins and waste products from the area. The stones also help to energise and balance the body as well as ease muscle stiffness and increases metabolism. The stones also promote deeper muscle relaxation when placed at key points of the body and can improve blood circulation as well as recharge energy levels.
There are also a lot of health conditions treated with hot stone therapy / massage. Some of these health conditions include:
- Circulatory problems
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
