YOGA TRAPEZE

Strengthens The Body, Improves Core Strength and Spinal Traction

IT STRENGTHENS THE BODY

Like mat yoga it strengthens through pushing and holding movements.  It also allows you to strenghten through pulling and rowing movents.

IMPROVES CORE STRENGTH

It will improve upper body strength and core strength developement.  You are using the core to stabilise and balance yourself on and off the trapeze.

spinal traction

It increases the space between lower verterbrae and allows for passive backbends and spine decompression.

Benefits Of Trapeze Yoga

Instant Traction on the spine (within two or three minutes).

Relief of back pain and possibly sciatica.

Deeper back bends and more open shoulders.

Functional upper body and full body strength development.

What Inversion Therapy Can Do

Increase range of motion, particularly in flexion and extension.

Reduce herniated disk pain for injuries that are slight to mild (stage 1)

Add 1-2mm of space between L4/L5 and L5/S1 vertebrae.

Alleviate Lordosis.

Reduce calm activity in spinal muscles (measured in EMG (Electomyography).

Back Bends

Another differnce in Trapeze Yoga from mat based yoga is the passive nature of many of the poses, particularly the backbends and shoulder stretches.  Using the Yoga Trapeze, you are able to assume extremely deep backbends in a passive way, allowing you to safely hold poses for longer periods of time.

Core Strength

The yoga trapeze demands a great deal of upper body and core strengthfor even the most basic moves, such as getting in and out of the sling.  It adds in the missing ‘pull’ motion lacking in mat based classes.

What is Missing in Traditional Yoga

The functional fitness of a strong viyasa-based yoga practice is extremely comprehensive.  While many forms of physical fitness or athletics can create massive imbalances in the body, a traditional yoga practice creates balance and improves overall health, including muscle strength, mobility, cardiovascular health, respiatory health, circulation and general fitness.  Trapeze Yoga generates all these benefits including the functional movement of pulling or rowing.  This creates also better grip strength and shoulder strength.

Breathing:

Controlled breathing is an important aspect of yoga. Trapeze yoga allows you to breathe deeply without any restriction. While hanging in the air, you’ll be able to totally relax. Trapeze yoga enables you to comfortably maintain every pose. Over time, you can expect to improve your lung capacity.

Mental Focus and Stress

Mental Focus and Stress

The principle of yoga is that your body and mind are one and connected. Stress in one domain will affect the other and vice versa. Many of us live primarily in either our mind or our body, which creates imbalance and even a lack of awareness. For example, people with very analytical careers may spend a lot of time in their mind, and may not realize how much tension is stored in their body. Or if you’re an athlete, you may be keenly aware of your body, but could benefit from becoming more aware of your mental state. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, yoga helps you balance and tone the connection between your body and mind.

The trapese helped with the tightness in my back and hips. After hanging upside down I felt I walked taller and the tension had gone. It also helped with my shoulder and leg strength. I loved it. Lynne.
